Back-in-stock alert management
Every awaited size in one account list: live status, one-click checkout and unsubscribe without emailing anyone.
Why it matters
In fashion, a size run sells through faster than the style itself: popular S and M sizes are gone in days, while L and XS linger. A shopper who can't find their size taps "Notify me when it's back" — and from then on they need to know what they've signed up for and what's happening with it. Without a dedicated section, alerts turn into a stream of emails that's easier to unsubscribe from entirely.
The Alerts section in the customer account makes waiting transparent: every item, size and status in one list.
How it drives sales
- Pent-up demand isn't lost. When a size is back, shoppers see it both in the notification and in their account — and can add it to the cart right away.
- Fewer unsubscribes from everything. If one alert is no longer relevant, shoppers remove just that one. Other notifications and marketing emails keep working.
- Fewer support tickets. "I signed up — when is it coming?" and "How do I unsubscribe?" are answered right in the interface.
- Data for buying decisions. Managers see how many people are waiting for a specific size and can plan restocks around real demand.
How it works
- A shopper signs up for an out-of-stock size on the product page or from their wishlist.
- The alert appears in the Alerts section: photo, style, size, color, date and notification channel.
- When stock arrives in the warehouse, the CMS automatically notifies everyone who was waiting, and the status in the account switches to "In stock".
- The "Add to cart" button adds the item in the right size — no need to pick it again.
- "Unsubscribe" removes a single alert in one click. Alerts for discontinued products close automatically with a note.
For your team
The CMS has an alerts overview: product, size, number of shoppers waiting, current stock and notification status. Sort it by demand and you'll instantly see which sizes to restock first. Notifications go out automatically when stock changes, and managers can see how many emails were sent for each item.
| What managers see | Why it helps |
|---|---|
| Shoppers waiting per size | Plan restocks and the size mix |
| Warehouse stock | Know if the delivery covers everyone |
| Notification status | Make sure the emails went out |
If more shoppers are waiting than units arrived, switch on the "only a few left" badge on the product page — it nudges shoppers coming from the alert to decide faster.
