SEO filters and meta tag templates

Catalog filters become landing pages with clean URLs, and meta tags for thousands of products fill themselves in from templates.

Why it matters

Fashion shoppers don't search for "dresses". They search for "black midi dresses", "linen trousers", "white sneakers for fall". Each of those queries is a ready-to-buy need, and your catalog already answers it: it's a filter combination. The catch is that it usually lives at a technical URL like ?color=12&cat=4, with no heading and no copy. Search engines don't rank pages like that, and sometimes treat them as duplicates.

Fashion CMS turns the filter combinations that matter into full landing pages and fills in meta tags across the whole catalog from templates. It's an advanced layer on top of technical SEO: the foundation makes sure your store is indexed correctly, while SEO filters help it capture traffic from thousands of specific queries.

How it drives sales

  • Traffic from precise queries. A /catalog/dresses/black/ page with its own H1 and copy answers "black dresses" better than a generic category, and takes shoppers straight to the right products.
  • No duplicates in the index. Anything not marked as a landing page is covered by canonical or noindex, so your own pages never compete with each other.
  • Meta tags without manual work. Templates fill in titles and descriptions for thousands of products and categories, so new items go live with proper meta tags.
  • Rankings stay put. When a URL changes or a product is removed, a 301 redirect passes the page's accumulated search value to the new address.

How it works

  1. A shopper picks "Dresses" and "Black" in the filters, and the URL becomes readable: /catalog/dresses/black/.
  2. In "SEO filter pages", your team sees the combinations and switches on "Index" for the ones people actually search for.
  3. Each landing page gets its own H1, SEO copy and meta tags; every other combination gets canonical or noindex automatically.
  4. In "Meta tag templates", you build titles and descriptions from variables like {name}, {color}, {price} and {brand}, with a live preview on real products.
  5. Need special wording for one product? Type it in manually: a manual edit always wins over the template.
  6. When a URL changes, the CMS creates a 301 redirect for you, and the broken-link report shows what still needs fixing.

What's included

Feature What you get
Clean filter URLs Readable addresses instead of parameters
Landing pages Custom H1, copy and meta for chosen combinations
Canonical and noindex Other combinations create no duplicates
Meta tag templates Titles and descriptions for products, categories and filters
Manual edits Custom wording on top of the template
301 redirects Rankings preserved when URLs change
Broken-link report Links that lead to empty pages

For your team

You don't build a landing page from scratch: its products update automatically, just like in custom collections. You only set the heading, copy and meta tags. Shopper queries in smart search tell you which combinations to switch on: if people keep searching for "linen dresses", it's time to give them a page. And clean landing-page URLs work just as well in product feeds and ads, since they're easy to read for shoppers and search engines alike.
