Why it matters

Forcing shoppers to register before they buy is one of the surest ways to lose them at the finish line. They've already picked the dress and the size, and now the store asks them to create a password, repeat it and confirm their email. Many close the tab right there. At the same time, your brand needs that account: without it there's no order history, no rewards and no reason to come back.

Sign-up at first purchase resolves that conflict. Shoppers simply place an order — name, phone, email — and a customer account is created automatically from those details.

How it drives sales

  • Higher checkout conversion. No extra step and no password form — the path from cart to payment is shorter.
  • A growing customer base. Every shopper gets an account, even if they never meant to sign up.
  • Rewards from the first order. Points from your loyalty program are credited straight to the new account — giving shoppers a reason to come back.
  • Fewer support requests. Order status and purchase history live in the account, not just in emails.

How it works

  1. The shopper checks out as a guest, entering their name, phone and email in the checkout form.
  2. After payment, the system creates an account and links the order, contact details and shipping address to it.
  3. The confirmation page tells the shopper their account is ready, and they can jump straight into it.
  4. The customer account shows order history, delivery status, rewards and wishlist.
  5. Next time, the shopper signs in with an SMS code or an email link — no password needed.
  6. If they've bought from you before, the new order is simply added to their existing account, matched by phone or email.

For your team

In the CMS, every customer is visible from their very first order: contact details, addresses, purchase history, total spend and loyalty tier. That's the foundation for segments, personalized campaigns and nurturing repeat customers. You can choose which fields are required at checkout and which email shoppers receive once their account is created.

Fashion details

A first purchase from a fashion store is often an impulse buy: spotted a piece on social media, clicked through, bought it. These are exactly the shoppers least willing to register — and exactly the ones you most want to keep. An automatic account turns a one-off purchase into the start of a relationship: the next collection, personal picks and saved-up rewards are already waiting in their account.
